A Fashion Show, presented by Fashion Historian and SMOC Curator, Ivan Sayers, featuring fashions from the 1960s.

A three-part story of fashion through the ‘60s, the show will begin with styles from the 1950s, then through the mini-skirt era, and ending in 1968 with the counterculture movement.

We are pleased to partner with the Canadian Alliance of Film and Television Costume Artists and Designers (CAFTCAD) for this event! CAFTCAD will present a silent auction, so make sure to arrive early to participate!

Dressed for History Catalogue Launch

Join SMOC and the Museum of Vancouver to celebrate the Dressed for History: Why Costume Collections Matter exhibition, and the launch of the exhibition catalogue! 
The event will include a panel discussion with Collectors featured in the exhibition, Ivan Sayers and Melanie Talkington, and SMOC President, Melanie McIntosh. Following the panel, there will be time to tour the exhibition and have your illustration done by Fashion Illustrator, Forest Tomlin. The Catalogue is available to purchase with your ticket to the event!

Ivan Sayers and Claus Jahnke will present a talk about the Dressed for History exhibition at the Museum of Vancouver, discussing how a collection is developed and how it's interpreted, and will feature items that were candidates for the exhibition but could not be included.

The exhibition explores the process of building a collection of vintage clothing and how to build a collection in a meaningful way.
