Gala: Bal Masqué October 24 2013 GALA
This is your chance to don your favourite faux persona!
Bal Masqué masquerade balls were a feature of the Carnival season in 15th century Europe, which grew into costumed public festivities in Italy during the 16th century Renaissance. They were generally elaborate dances held for members of the upper classes, and were particularly popular in Venice. Today, Bal Masqué is a party or feast where guests attend in costume, wearing a mask.
At SMOC’s Bal Masqué, we’ll provide you with an atmospheric pre-show string quartet, professional photo-ops with fabulously adorned partiers, sumptuous food, silent auction, and, of course, a stunning live fashion show hosted by our Honorary Curator, Ivan Sayers. Costumes and masks optional, but encouraged.
The Bal Masqué Gala Fundraiser presented by SMOC will be held at the Hellenic Centre (4500 Arbutus Street) on October 24, 2013. No-host bar 5:30 – 7:00 pm, Dinner @ 7:00 pm, Fashions @ 8:00 pm.
